Dear yogi’s and yogini’s,
Claire and I had an absolutely amazing time in Costa Rica. It really is a stunning country. They don’t have an army, investing the money into healthcare and education instead, and it really shows.
We flew from Gatwick to San Jose on a virtually empty plane, which allowed space to spread out ! And the red dot on the map is where Costa Rica is, between Nicaragua and Panama.

Upon landing, we transferred to the Hotel Bourgainvillea which is renowned as a bird-watchers paradise. The gardens were absolutely beautiful, with a huge variety in trees and plants, which attracted multiple species of birds. Look closely in the bamboo below and you might see the owl. The white dangling flowers are angels trumpets !

The following day the 9 of us travelled to the Serapiqui rainforest, which took about 2 hours with a stop on the way before arriving at the Ara Ambigua Lodge.
The Lodge was lovely, with comfortable rooms, each with a little veranda, two stunning pools, masses of flowers, trees, birds, lizards, caymans, ants (including bullet and leafcutter ants) and good food. There were bird feeders and ponds adjacent to the dining area so we could enjoy the many varieties of birds at meal times, and the frog chorus in the evening. We had access to two lovely yoga studios. Two local guides, Badger and Erik, took us on guided tours of the hotel grounds in the morning and evening so we could see all the different wildlife in the area, which was amazing. The guides are incredibly talented, and could sing to the birds to attract them down, and also knew where to look for sloths.

It really was amazing !
My emails are limited in length, so more to follow on Costa Rica next Sunday ! Sorry - no space for a poem today.
In the meantime, I’m really looking forwards to seeing you in class again next week, which is going to be a busy one !
With love & Pura Vida !
